Modern Love Veterinary

Terrible communication. Clearly cutting corners in favor of business over the care of animals. This place is NOT fear free even if they are certified as such. I had a few encounters w dr Michelle Donald that were concerning over my year at modern love vet. Initially my dogs received decent care but every visit the care declined. We spent longer and longer waiting in the exam room (listening to barking dogs)to see the dr which really amped up my dogs anxiety by the time dr Donald would eventually enter the room my dog would be so terrified exams could only be conducted superficially, rushed, with FORCE+ FEAR inducing. When I pointed out that the environment was stressful to my dog she said she had never seen a dog react to the sound of barking which if you have ever met a dog is clearly unlikely. Being gaslit by medical providers is nothing new unfortunately even in the animal world :( When I asked for solutions for the skin and ear issues which were the reason for our visit she basically shrugged and said “allergies deal with it.” W no recs but the steroids she had previously prescribed which didn’t work and she said could be harmful if overused. Seems like an odd choice. I really tried to work w dr. Donald, find common ground, and advocate for my animals at modern love, but after dr Donald wasting our time repeatedly, her crappy attitude, continued extremely inefficient communication w staff and being met with hostility when I unfortunately had to be assertive, I eventually lost my patience with this place. It’s so important to trust those who are responsible for the care of our beloved companion animals and unfortunately dr. Donald has some real work to do when it comes to a to receiving feedback and putting animals first. She clearly had no problem making our last visit very scary for my already scared dog by attempting assert dominance w me for advocating for my dogs space go pee on the extremely busy street (which is apparently their protocol for collecting samples lol) without her well meaning but out of touch staff hovered right over my stressed and sick dog. That visit she didn’t take one look at my dog. It was all a defense of her clearly disorganized practice. I understand that running a business is stressful especially with so many smaller vet offices being bought up but that is why it is so important for veterinary doctors to maintain integrity and prioritize their practice over profit .i would be happy to pay more for a vet that is ACTUALLY fear+force free . i would have been happy to reschedule for a less busy day but it’s clear they are trying to fit as much on the schedule as possible and cannot keep up with it. I hope dr Michell gets a vacation where she can do some soul searching and reconnect to her values as a vet.

Modern Love Veterinary is the best vet clinic I have been to in my cats' 14+ years of life. They go above and beyond in every interaction, every visit, every email, for everything from regular checkups to urgent visits. We have cats that range from docile to very aggressive, and they handle all of them with the same care and love. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

They took great care of my elder dog. We’re kind when he nervously pooped on the floor upon entering the office. We cognizant of cost and communicated excellently. He ended up needing surgery (tooth extractions) and the through the entire process I was grateful for the Modern Love team, their care and attention to my dog.

We just had our first visit today and I was blown away. Ended up crying in the car because of how relieved I was. My pup has needed trazadone and sometimes a muzzle previously and today needed neither! So happy I found them. The whole team was great and super supportive and kind.

We just had our first visit to Modern Love Veterinary and Dr. Michelle Donald. While the reviews that led us here were mostly glowing, there were a couple that said their experience was rushed or impersonal. That could not have been further from our experience. Dr. Donald had reviewed all of Mabel's history, performed a comprehensive exam, and discussed her condition (Mabel had pneumonia - she's okay now). She was thorough and straightforward, didn't talk down to us, and made sure we understood everything. That's what you would expect from a good vet. What we didn't expect was that she took time to get to know us as pet parents. She was warm and friendly throughout, and spent probably double the amount of time we would have expected. This is the best vet experience I think we've ever had.
