Banfield Pet Hospital

Dr. Welch has been one of the best vets I’ve seen for my little catto, Tauntaun. He instantly knew what to do for her CKD spike, delivered all news with care and truly seems to want the best for my gal as if he knows her. He’s even called to check in when we’ve previously missed an appointment to make sure she’s okay. I cannot thank him enough for caring for my first born. Bring your cat to Dr. Welch!

I cannot warn people enough of Banfield. I have had multiple horrible experiences with them up until the cancellation. I had my cats on the wellbeing plan for a year and one super important thing to note - even after being expensive, these plans don't cover any surgeries or emergencies or after hour calls. I always scheduled the earliest regular checkup appointment for my cats, and they always took atleast 5 hours before my cats were ready for pick up, to the point that couple times they had my cats for a full 8 hours, with NO FOOD NO WATER & NO LITTER ACCESS. Every time I went to pick up my cats they looked exhausted and scared. Due to these issues, I called them to cancel my plan, which they processed easy enough. 6 months went by and I started getting calls from collections about an outstanding $120 charge. Apparently their plans are 12 month contract and even if you pay monthly and cancel in the middle they require you to pay for the remaining of the contract after the cancellation, pet deaths are no exception to this rule! During my cancellation call with Banfield they did not inform me about this, I was fully paid up until the date of cancellation. Neither did they call me or email me about this charge, they just sent it to collections after 6 months, messing up my credit. It is a big chain of hospitals and only care about their bottom line and not about the wellbeing of your pet or being transparent at all. I ended up getting pet insurance from Lemonade and now am going to a local pet hospital in the area that provides much better care for my cats. My lemonade plan costs me the same as Banfield wellness plan and covers emergencies and dental care! I would save money and headache and find a local pet hospital and get pet insurance from Lemonade or Costco.

Just get a local, non franchisee vet. They strong armed me into services I didn't need at this time for my pets despite me telling them that I had just paid the deposit on a lease and could only afford their vaccines so that I could apply for a license for them and that I would bring everyone back for the other routine care once I had the money. What should have been just over $60 is going to be $230. Plus they charge $7+ per pet to dispose of their syringes?! Guess me and my kid don't need groceries over the next few weeks. I've been bringing my pets to Banfield for a while but they always do this. They have no compassion for the individual and expect you to be able to shell out hundreds of dollars at every appointment. If you're flush with cash at all times though they can be pretty convenient. Just keep it in mind that they don't care about you or your ability to pay. They will tell you it's mandatory even if it isn't (it's entirely up to whoever runs the location, they just make more money by requiring an exam each time you get vaccinations).
